Meet the Preceptors

Amber Adams, PharmD, BCCCP

Dr. Adams is a clinical staff pharmacist at CHH. She received her PharmD from Auburn University Harrison School of Pharmacy and completed her PGY1-PGY2 Critical Care residency at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center in NC, with presentation of practice-based research in both sepsis and ischemic stroke on national platforms. She has 7 years of staff pharmacy experience and 3 years of practice experience as an emergency department specialist at CHH and University of Virginia in Charlottesville. Her practice interests include toxicology, neurology, and cardiology, and she is certified in both ACLS and ENLS.

Meagan Ayers, PharmD, BCPS

Dr. Ayers is a clinical pharmacy specialist practicing with the Internal Medicine service at CHH. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from West Virginia University in 2014. She completed her PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at Hazard ARH Regional Medical Center, as well as a teaching certificate program through the University of Kentucky. Dr. Ayers became board certified in pharmacotherapy in 2017. Her practice interests include anticoagulation and stroke management.

Brandy Brown, PharmD

Dr. Brown is a clinical pharmacy specialist practicing within the Emergency Department at CHH. She earned her doctorate of pharmacy degree from University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy in 2019. She then completed her PGY1 pharmacy residency at St. Claire Regional Medical Center and a teaching certificate through University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy in 2020. She is certified in ACLS and PALS. Her areas of interests include emergency medicine, toxicology and transitions of care.

John Crowley, PharmD, BCPS, CPPS

Dr. Crowley is the Medication Safety Officer at CHH and also serves as the Residency Program Director. He earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from West Virginia University in 2010. He completed his PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency at Valley Health Winchester Medical Center and a teaching certificate program at Shenandoah University in 2011. Dr. Crowley became board certified in pharmacotherapy in 2013 and was the recipient of the 2013-2014 APPE Preceptor of the Year award from the WVU School of Pharmacy. He has also obtained his certification in patient safety in 2022. His practice interests include anticoagulation, stewardship, and patient safety.

Patrick Dunn, PharmD

Dr. Dunn is a clinical pharmacy specialist practicing in the Medical Intensive Care Unit at CHH and also serves as the Clinical Coordinator. He earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from West Virginia University in 2005. He completed his PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency in 2006 as well as his PGY-2 Critical Care Pharmacy Residency at Charleston Area Medical Center in 2007. Dr. Dunn has participated in research involving trauma and infectious disease patient populations. His practice interests include critical care, cardiology, and infectious disease.

Derek Evans, PharmD

Dr. Evans is a clinical pharmacy specialist practicing with the Infectious Disease service and Antimicrobial Stewardship at CHH. He earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from West Virginia University in 2011. He completed his Pharmacy Residency training at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Dr. Evans is involved in precepting students and residents and serves as a member of the Infection Control and Surgical Safety committees. His practice interests include antimicrobial resistance and the pharmacokinetics/ pharmacodynamics of antimicrobials and the associated impact on resistance and outcomes.

Allison Fisher, PharmD, BCCCP

Dr. Fisher is a clinical pharmacy specialist practicing within the Emergency Department at CHH. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from West Virginia University in 2015. She completed her PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency at Cabell Huntington Hospital and a teaching certificate program through Marshall University School of Pharmacy in 2016. She became a board certified critical care pharmacist in 2019. Dr. Fisher was voted the 2020 Pharmacist of the Year and the 2020 – 2021 Preceptor of the Year at her prior practice location, St. Claire Regional Medical Center. Her practice interests include antimicrobial stewardship, burn care, stroke care, and trauma response.

Casey Fitzpatrick, PharmD, BCPS

Dr. Fitzpatrick is a clinical pharmacy specialist practicing with the Family Medicine service at CHH and serves as an Assistant Professor at Marshall University School of Pharmacy (MUSOP). He earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from MUSOP 2016. He completed his PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at St. Mary’s Medical Center in 2017. Dr. Fitzpatrick is a board-certified pharmacotherapy specialist and was awarded the 2017-2018 IPPE Preceptor of the Year from MUSOP as well as the West Virginia Society of Health Systems Pharmacist (WVSHP) New Practitioner Award in 2021. His practice interests include cardiology and infectious diseases.

Nathan Goad, PharmD, BCPS, BCCCP

Dr. Goad is a clinical pharmacy specialist practicing in the Medical Intensive Care Unit at CHH. He earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Campbell University in 2017. He completed his PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in 2018 and a PGY-2 Critical Care Pharmacy Residency at Tampa General Hospital in 2019. Dr. Goad was awarded the Star Research Award from the Society of Critical Care Medicine for his research on hyperchloremia (2018) and anticoagulation reversal (2019). He is a board-certified pharmacotherapy specialist and critical care specialist with practice interests including shock states, hematology, analgesia and sedation, and endocrinology.

Stephanie Justice, PharmD, BCPS

Dr. Justice is the Director of Pharmacy at Cabell Huntington Hospital. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy in 2007. She completed her PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency and a PGY-2 Emergency Medicine Pharmacy Residency at the University of Rochester Medical Center. Following completion of her residency training, Dr. Justice worked as an Emergency Medicine Clinical Pharmacy Specialist for six years at the following institutions: the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, UK HealthCare in Lexington, Kentucky and the Charleston Area Medical Center in Charleston, West Virginia. In December 2015, she started her journey at St. Claire HealthCare as the Pharmacy Clinical Coordinator and then transitioned into the role of the Director of Pharmacy. In addition to her administrative and clinical practice responsibilities, Dr. Justice has been actively involved in the education of pharmacy students and residents throughout her career. She served as the PGY2 Emergency Medicine Pharmacy Residency program director while at UK HealthCare and as the PGY1 Pharmacy Residency program director at St. Claire HealthCare. She has research and therapeutic publications and has presented at state and national meetings.

Jennifer Sparks, PharmD, BCPS, BCPID

Dr. Sparks is a clinical pharmacy specialist practicing with the Internal Medicine service at CHH and serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor at MUSOP. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Charleston in 2011 and a teaching certificate program through Marshall University School of Pharmacy. Dr. Sparks is a board-certified pharmacotherapy specialist and a board-certified infectious disease pharmacist with practice interests including infectious diseases/antimicrobial stewardship, medication safety, and opioid dependence. She is also certified in ACLS and PALS.

Elizabeth Taylor, PharmD, BCCCP

Dr. Taylor is a clinical pharmacy specialist practicing in the surgical and burn intensive care units at Cabell Huntington Hospital. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2018 from D’Youville School of Pharmacy in New York. Dr. Taylor went on to complete her PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at Cabell Huntington Hospital and PGY-2 Critical Care Pharmacy Residency at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Virginia. Dr. Taylor is a board-certified critical care pharmacy specialist with practice interests including analgesia & sedation, trauma, and nutrition support. She is a certified ACLS instructor and also certified in PALS, ENLS and ABLS.

Timothy Taylor, PharmD, BCPS

Dr. Taylor is a clinical pharmacy specialist practicing with the Hospitalist service and works as an Inpatient Staff Pharmacist at Cabell Huntington Hospital. He earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree with an area of emphasis in Advanced Clinical Practice from West Virginia University in 2015. His past career experiences include being the Director of Pharmacy of a long term acute care hospital. Dr. Taylor became board certified in pharmacotherapy in 2019.

Janet Wolcott, PharmD

Dr. Wolcott is a clinical pharmacy specialist practicing with the Hospitalist service, Palliative Care, and Transitional Care services at CHH. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science and her Doctorate of Pharmacy degree from the University of Kentucky. She completed her PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at the Huntington Veterans Affairs Medical Center in 1995. She is involved in the WVSHP state association, is a house of delegate member of ASHP, on the Board for the WV PRN program, and executive women in medicine and science board. Her practice interests include general medicine, geriatrics, and critical care.
